Of course I'm not against supporting and helping people of color, especially given that I'm Native American and have dark skin.
But, I support equal opportunity and equal treatment, not equal outcome. Outcomes will never be equal, but that doesn't mean that we shouldn't have the same opportunities in life as everyone else, nor should we be working full time jobs and still struggle to pay bills while people like Musk and Bezos are multi-billionaires many times over.
In terms of DoorDash, GrubHub, Uber Eats, etc. -- they need to pay their contractors more, no matter what the color of their skin.
They need to stop their trickery, their purposeful destruction of the restaurant industry for their own personal gains, and they need to pay EVERYONE more.
And your definition of "helping people of color" may differ from mine. I don't think we need to be sending out checks to POC and not to everyone else. That's not fair or equal.
But from where I'm sitting, nothing in this country is going to change until we completely reform the people in our government.
The US government, state governments, municipalities, etc. are filled with people who house prejudices against anyone that doesn't look like them; while I do not believe the majority of Americans are "racist," I DO believe that our system, our news cycle, and our culture has created prejudices against POC, and THAT is what needs to stop.
So, of course I support helping POC, especially because I am one, but I don't think my version of 'support' will jive with most people's version of what that support looks like.
